Choose the right priority to become the best
『The bible of the restaurant』
Chapter 8
Choose the right priority to become the best
感動を生める人間は、正しい優先順位を選択する
The most important factor in delivering the ultimate service is to think and choose the correct priority of the task. Always think and act, think before you move. This is the most basic and obvious thing in working and in everyday life, but surprisingly most people are unable to practice.
Even though you think you that are using your brain before moving your body, many people are poor at work because they have wrong standards and directions. And people who are not able to choose the correct priority will not be able to improve their level of work skills.
Priorities change every day, every hour, every minute and every second in the actual site. In order to read and feel the changing priorities accurately, it is important to think before acting. Look around the entire restaurant and observe customer’s reactions and teammates movement. Every decision that you and your teammate makes, will create the daily operation. Whether it is going to be a good day or a nightmare day depends on how much you use your brain.
What's the biggest difference between a person who can impress others and who disappoints others? And a person who can deliver ultimate service and who cannot? Also a person who can work as a team and who cannot?
It’s not about how clever you are or how high your education is.
It’s not about how fast you can move or how strong you are.
It’s not about how much experience you have in the work place.
It’s not about how much skill you have in your work.
Surely these skills, knowledge and elements are very important in working, and these factors may create a bit of difference among teammates, but it is not a crucial element. The key difference of teammates’ ability will show in the priority that they choose. Yes, the experience in the work field will affect how you choose your priority. But the most important element that will affect is how much information you are able to gain by observing your customers’ reactions and teammates’ movement at that moment. Always concentrate and pay attention for other people around you to be able to choose the most effective priority to improve your service. Your age, gender or how long experience you have in the industry is not so important in delivering the ultimate service.
